MBDA - Survey in Laser Rangefinders (LRF) Designators & Ladars
Thematic: Optronics
MBDA is interested in receiving proposals from European SMEs that may offer, for use in missiles or missile systems:
1/ new Laser technologies or components including (non exhaustive list):
- solid state, diode, Raman, power or fibre coupled Laser technologies and components, used for metrology & illumination, material processing, hand piece surgery, etc
- Laser base plates, Laser optics, modulators and beam homogenizers, Laser diode optics, etc
- Laser and coherent/incoherent detection modules, etc
2/ subparts or complete small sized Rangefinders issued from following applications:
- Laser rangefinders for Defence and Security
- Laser rangefinders and distance sensors for Industrial Automation
- Laser sensors for meteorology and environment sensing
These proposals may then be taken up to form part of European research aiming to introduce new
solutions enhance or reduce the costs of existing solutions.
In order to replace current technologies, components or subparts it will be necessary for the proposed
solutions to have compelling advantages:
- Low cost
- Small size
Considered applications and typical performances:
Rangefinders for Firing posts: range up to 10 km
Ladars for anti surface missile applications: range 1-3 km
Proximity detector in missile: from 1 m up to around 10m
Illuminators for Semi-Active Laser applications
Objective:
For MBDA Leader Group in Defence, the proposed solutions should afford the use of dual technologies in missiles and/or missile systems and generate savings.
